Sound Advice

Sound Advice are independent live music producers – finders, bookers, and even creators of the most exclusive entertainment.

Hugh Phillimore founded Sound Advice in 1981, starting with booking bands for the Oxford & Cambridge Summer Balls. He fast became the go-to music provider for the parties of rockstars and princes, travelling the globe with an assortment of weird and wonderful musical talent.

He persuaded Lionel Richie to do his first private show in 1999. Lionel now performs regularly for private events – and is brilliant every time. ‘The highest quality of live music is crucial to the success of any event – we have 30 years’ experience in delivering exactly that.’ Hugh Phillimore

    • Flawless In Philly

As much as we like to brag about our achievements – aka selflessly bring a little showbiz sparkle to your otherwise rather pedestrian existence – even we get a bit teary with the magnitude of the talent we handle on behalf of our clients. Our much previewed Philadelphian experience was such a moment. The prestigious […]

      We’ll Always Have Florence

As regular readers will know here at SA towers we’re not adverse to a teeny weeny bit of showing off ‘de temps en temps’ as we say in international circles.     Recovering from yet another triumphant Cornbury Festival with the particularly special Specials, all conquering popsters Keane and perennial silver surfers the Beach […]

    • It’s All That Matters

As many of you know our life here at Sound Advice HQ is pretty much non-stop glamour and groove. Every now & then even we surprise ourselves with the dizziness of our daily adventures. We had to rush to the East Coast for a bit of a recce – can’t stop the old phone making […]

      Spring 2018 – We’re Still here

We’ve always felt it’s the height of bad manners to wang on unless you’ve really got something to say, so we’ve been saving up a couple of gems for you to have a teeny weeny peek into our very showbiz world.   You may be tiring of our long and enduring love for the talent […]

    • Beautiful Beginnings & Fabulous Finales

OH MY GOD it’s our 36th year here at the newly refreshed, and recently detoxed, Sound Advice Towers – how did that happen? Only yesterday I was a wildly optimistic young man with a mad love of all things music, and here I am, all these years later, still immersed in this extraordinary and ridiculous business – […]

      It’s Only Love…

Sometimes in the strange glittery world we inhabit we have properly ecstatic experiences – yes yes yes! We are of course aided and abetted by the performers that we’re lucky enough to produce, and to work for great clients, one of whom (ALERT no holds barred serious bragging ahead) described us kindly – ‘Never have we experienced […]

      Back in the Saddle

Here at Sound Advice Towers we’re mainly workaholics, so all the Christmas/New Year nonsense is a rather unwelcome interruption to our art – the never ending mission to supply the perfect entertainment. We live to spread joy but as many of our clients decamp to their Caribbean estates in December, we’ve just had to slow […]

      Goodbye Summer 2015

While you lot have been splayed out poolside with the prosecco we have of course been toiling away with our wonderfully absurd enterprise. Having not ventured north of the border for many years we were inevitably called upon by our Scottish cousins twice in a month. To beautiful Bute (closely followed by that frightful copycat […]
